What
does being a Social Club Member mean for me?
As a member, you have the right to attend all functions
sponsored by the Social Club. Usually this is at a substantial
saving. Your membership also qualifies you to receive special
discounts at various participating
merchants and services. Please surf our web site to learn
more.
I
am not a member; can I attend Club events?
All emplyees and Contractors of TransCanada are eligible
to become members of the Social Club. Some events
are offered to non-members. The cost for non-members for
those events is higher than for members. But we welcome
non-members to those events and encourage you to become
a member. Most events may have limitations as to how many
people can attend and therefore may designated as "member
only" functions.
I
am a member of another Club Branch. Can I attend an
event in Calgary, or with another branch?
You may attend other Club Branch events at the Other Branch
Member rate. The company sponsors each Club member
and directs this portion to your corresponding Club Branch.
It is then the member's responsibility to apply to your own
branch for the Club subsidized portion of the cost.
It is up to the discretion of each Club Branch to refund this
portion. It is advisable to check with with your Club
Branch before registering for another Branch event if you
would like the subsidized portion refunded.
Please contact
the Social Club if you have any questions.
How
do I pay for Club events?
Payment is required by the specified date, by cheque made
payable to the TransCanada Social Club, cash or direct fund
transfer from the TransCanada
Credit Union. Please enclose a copy of your confirmation
form with payment as this ensures all monies are applied
to the proper person. Please write a separate cheque
for each event to simplify accounting.
I
need my tickets quickly, can the Administrator register
me?
No, you must register for an event before picking up tickets.
Payment by separate cheques is preferred and appreciated.
The administrator is only in the office part time and is
unable to issue tickets immediately for events. In most
circumstances, event processing can take up to five business
days. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

I
don't require my tickets anymore or I ordered too many tickets,
can I get a refund?
I'm not satisfied with the tickets I
received, can I get a refund?
If you have not sent payment for your registration, you
may cancel the registration anytime online.
It is up to members to make themselves aware of what they
are purchasing before they send payment for an event. Unfortunately,
we can not guarantee our events will be suitable to all
members all the time.
We are unable to refund money for payment of registrations
already received.
What
is the role of the Club Administrator?
The Club Administrator handles all registrations for events
and accounts receivable and payable and other administrative
duties for the Club. The Administrator is usually the first
point of contact for members to disseminate any information
required.
The Administrator may help with some administration at Club
events.
This is a paid position sponsored by the Club.
Can
I suggest events or functions that the Club could sponsor?
Certainly! We welcome all suggestions and feedback that
we receive from our members. Please contact
us with any suggestions.

How
can I become a member of the Social Club Executive Committee?
First, you must be a member of the Social Club. Once a year
before our Annual General Meeting, usually in March, we
post and send out information on Club Executive Nominations.
The Nomination Form should be completely filled out and
returned to the Club office in the time specified. Nominations
are then held via an email or paper ballot.
At the Social Club Annual General Meeting, held in April,
new Club Executive Committee members are announced. Attendance
at all Executive Committee meetings, usually held once a
month, are mandatory.
As part of the Executive Committee, you would be responsible
to fulfill your position to the best of your ability. This
may include organizing and attending Club events as well
as other duties as per your office. This is a volunteer
position.
If for any reason you are unable to continue as part of
the Executive Committee, you must provide your resignation
in writing to the Executive Committee.
I
have received notice that my employment with TransCanada
is ending. When does my membership terminate?
Your membership terminates when your payroll and Social
Club deductions terminate. Or, if you are a Contractor,
your membership terminates on the expiry date. Please
attend any remaining events that you have registered and
paid for.
I
am retiring from TransCanada, does my membership terminate?
Current and new retirees with 25 or more years of service
may become TransCanada Social Club members and the company
will pay their membership with no annual fees.
Retirees with less than 25 years of service can join the
Social Club for an annual fee.
All retirees are encouraged to join their local branch of
the TransCanada Social Club whether they were members before
retirement or not.

Now
that I am retired, how do I find out about Club events?
You may ask to be put on an e-mail
distribution list that notifies all Retirees of upcoming
events.
If this is not available to you, you can telephone the Club
office periodically at (403) 920-2616 for event updates.
I'm going on Maternity Leave, am I
still a member and how do I find out about Club events?
Yes, you are still considered an honorary club member while
on maternity leave. You are entitled to attend club events
and receive member discounts. It is your responsibility
to inform the Club office when you will be starting your
maternity leave and when you expect to return. And, if email
notification is not available, it is also your responsibility
to contact the Club office for
information on upcoming events. You also qualify for
a free gift for your new baby, if you notify the club within
four weeks of your baby's birth.
The division of the Company I work for is being divested.
Social Club Executive at Divested Entities of TransCanada.
I have 3 or more children
and would like to bring my entire family to an event, what
do I do?
Step 1: Ensure that you have created accounts for
all your family members - When you log in you can create
an account for each family member so that we know how many
people you may require tickets for.
Step 2: Register for the event using the maximum
allowed.
Step 3: Contact the Social club office (920-2616)
and your request will be accomodated on a best efforts basis
due to tickets and seating availability.
I've purchased the maximum amount of tickets available,
how do I get more?
- We would like as many members as possible to have
the opportunity to enjoy the event and therefore, we have
placed a maximum of the number of tickets that each member
can purchase.
- If an event is not selling well, the Social Club
will increase ticket limits within 7 working days for the
event. If you are able to purchase tickets over and above
what the original maximum was, please note that while we'll
try our best, we may not be able to guarantee seating arrangements.
Can I suggest events or functions that the Club could sponsor?
We always welcome new events and activity ideas
for our members! If you have an idea, please submit to the
Social
Club

Retiree
Dues and Company Match
Many of our employee members are not aware
that we have retiree members too! If you retire and have 25+
years of service at the time of your retirement, you are eligible
for the lifetime membership in the TransCanada Social Club
at no cost since TransCanada actually funds your full membership
($126/year). If you were a member of the Social Club at the
time of your retirement, but have less than 25 years of service,
you may continue to be a member of the Social Club for $42/year
which is also double-matched by the Company, same as employee
members. Retiree members enjoy the same membership advantage
as employee members.

Why do I have to pay a membership fee?
Membership fees are double
matched by TransCanada. These funds serve several purposes:
- The Social Club is able to acquire tickets at a group rate
which we further subsidize for most events.
- We are able to provide events that we organize (such as
the Adult & Children's Christmas Parties and Golf Tournament)
to members at below cost.
- And finally, the Social Club, unfortunately, can't run
itself and we must consider administration costs!
